Mechanism of Action
Bempedoic acid inhibits adenosine triphosphate-citrate lyase (ACL), an enzyme upstream of HMG-CoA reductase in the cholesterol biosynthesis pathway. This action increases LDL receptor expression on hepatocytes, enhancing LDL clearance from the blood.
