Mechanism of Action
Tacrolimus inhibits T-lymphocyte activation by binding to intracellular protein FKBP-12. This complex inhibits calcineurin, preventing the dephosphorylation and translocation of nuclear factor of activated T-cells, thus blocking cytokine production.
