Mechanism of Action
Clopidogrel is a prodrug that must be metabolized to an active form. It irreversibly inhibits the binding of adenosine diphosphate to its platelet P2Y12 receptor, preventing the activation of the GPIIb/IIIa complex and subsequent platelet aggregation.
